Culinary Tour - Taste of China
Cuisine in China is as diverse and intricate as its long history and its people. For centuries, the Chinese people have placed emphasis on the business and pleasure of cooking and eating in all aspects of life. Early development of cooking styles coincided with changes in Dynasty's, culminating in four distinct schools of cooking: North, East, South and West. The North is famous for China's most renowned dish, Beijing Duck (Peking duck) and our opportunity to sample this delicacy will be one of the highlights of our tour. We will take time to enjoy some of the regions sightseeing, including a visit to the Great Wall, Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, the Summer Palace and the Temple of Heaven. The tour continues to Shanghai, known as the "Paris of the East," a wonderful cosmopolitan city with superb teahouses, the famous Bund and the center of China's busy center of commerce. Shanghai's famous waterfront boulevard is lined with lavishly restored colonial buildings. Dining in Shanghai is an exhilarating experience, Shanghai cuisine is a combination of many Asian and European cooking styles. Your stay in Shanghai also includes a tour to the Yu Garden and the Shanghai Museum. In Hong Kong, you will discover the secrets of the different sauces and ingredients a cook used to prepare each of the delicious Cantonese cuisines. Along with freshness and quality, artistic presentation of the food and garnishing are also important in Cantonese cooking. 11 DAYS LAND & AIR FROM $1650 WEST COAST
